This trail runs along the bases of the highest peaks of Madeira Island and crosses part of the majestic Central Mountain Massif. The perspective provided by this route changes at every turn, every climb and every descent to fill the eye and soul of walkers.
Along the way, the views over Curral das Freiras, located in the centre of the island, and the village of Encumeada emerge and deserve your contemplation. You may also appreciate endemic species of Madeira’s flora and fauna such as the Bay Tree, Madeira Mahogany, Madeira Laurel, Madeira Laurel, Madeira Laurel, Madeira Cheesewood, Madeira Lilly, Madeira Firecrest and many others.
Being a mountain walk, it requires some physical preparation and stamina, although the feeling of grandeur and satisfaction it offers is worth the effort.
