The Levada do Norte is one of the largest and most important of the Island, crossing a large part of the region. This magnificent stretch of the Levada do Norte starts a little bit below the well known Cabo Girão, taking the hiker to the Boa Morte area in Ribeira Brava. It’s an easy and pleasant walk that can be done at any time of the year, as it’s located in the southern part of the Island, where the climate is milder. Along the way, it is possible to appreciate the fantastic views that emerge, where the parishes of Câmara de Lobos and Campanário stand out. In these views, the walker can also observe the green fields, the carefully worked plantations and the group of houses and buildings which form the villages. From time to time, you may come across a local person who is tending to his or her land, or simply taking a stroll. Like other walks on Madeira Island, there are also several species of flora and fauna here. Take a break every now and then and enjoy the magnificent views and surroundings.
